"Archer, 13th Century". Bronze with brown patina, signed on the base, titled on the edge of the base, approx. 15-1/2"H. The archer wears a quiver of arrows at his back suspended from a leather strap. He is in the process of stringing his bow; the bow string is made of twisted wire, not attached at his right hand.

"Le Genie de L'Humanite". Bronze with dark gold/brown patina, approx. 27" x 8-1/2" x 9", with the title embossed on the base. A 20th century cast of the work by Picault, with the variation of a torch held in the man's right hand; the original did not have the torch. Foundry mark on the base. The male figure stands atop a base with an open book containing the names Pasteur, Humbold, Edison, Sturat Mill, Lavoisier, Franklin, V. Hugo, Araco.

A bronze figure of a man, standing atop a mound base and an architectural base above a broken sword and a plow, holding one arm aloft. The lower base has an engraved plated in French that states that it is a "souvenir" presented to Roussel, father and son, for 30 years of loyal service. The name "E. Drouot" is cast into the base and there is a foundry stamp "Vrai (True) Bronze Paris...B.D". Overall it measures approx. 21-1/2"H.

A copy after the original. Bronze, portrait bust of an African male. Wearing a shirt, with dark patina on exposed skin. Signed on back along with triangular mark and "G. Massa, Rome". Approx. 11-1/4"T x 8-10/16"W x 5-13/16"D. The bust is attached to a green marble base. Warm patina overall. Purchased from the C.B. Charles Galleries, Michigan, USA, ca. 1970's.

A Silvered Bronze

297. A Silvered Bronze "Birth of Venus" Statue, Original MGM Studio Property


Styled after the famous painting by Sandro Botticelli, cast in bronze with a silvered finish. Adhered to a rectangular black marble base. The base of the statue is affixed with a label "MGM studio property/ Culver City Cal," side is engraved "Etienne Falconet/1716." Overall the statue measures approx. 21"H with the base.
