About the Auction Process
Bidding Process.
1. Log in with your Bidder ID and Password. If you are a first time bidder please register here.
2. Bidding page provides the following:
*Estimate (approximate value of the particular item)
*Bid Increment (approx. 2% of the low estimate)
*Closing Time (at which no more bids are accepted)
*Current High Bid
*Minimum Bid (amount one increment higher than 'current high bid')
*Reserve Link (if an item has a reserve or "minimum" you can click on the
"reserve
not met" link to find out the reserve amount).
3. Placing Bids:
*Minimum bids: you may enter bids at suggested increments (minimum bid
accepted would be
displayed below the bid field).
*Max Bids: you may enter the maximum amount you are willing to bid, in that
case, the amount displayed
on the bidding grid would be either at the
first increment or one
increment higher than the current high bid. If
someone else places a bid,
the computer will automatically bid one increment
higher for you, given your
max bid is higher than the new bid. You may
increase your max bid at
any time during bidding.
MAX BIDS ARE NOT DISCLOSED.
*Once a bid is placed it may not be withdrawn.
*REMEMBER: the one who places the highest bid wins, not who places the
bid last; therefore, it is advantageous to
place max bids rather than
bid at increments to prevent other bidders
from "sniping" in their bids
at the last second. If your challenger bids
the same amount as your
max bid, you'll be the high bidder
since you've placed it earlier. If a
challenger bids more than your max bid
then he/she would be the
high bidder one increment over your max bid.
4. Important things about the bidding process:
*Lots close at one minute intervals.
*Bidding grid refreshes approx. every 7 seconds.
*You may view your max bids in your "favorites".
